About the Design

The Stegosaurus was a herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Late Jurassic period, between 156 and 145 million years ago, in what is now North America. It was a large dinosaur, measuring up to 9 metres in length and weighing up to 7 tonnes. It had a robust body with short, thick legs. Its head was small and elongated, with a long, narrow snout. 

A distinctive feature of the Stegosaurus was its bony plates, which rose vertically along its back. These plates varied in shape and size, and are believed to have been used for temperature regulation or display. Another distinctive feature of the Stegosaurus was its two pairs of long spikes that extended horizontally near the end of its tail. These spikes were used for defence against predators such as Allosaurus.

The Stegosaurus was a herbivorous dinosaur, and is believed to have eaten a variety of plants, including ferns, cycads and conifers. It is thought to have grazed in the grasslands and forests of North America.

The Stegosaurus is one of the most recognisable dinosaurs. Its distinctive appearance and role in popular culture have made it a favourite with children and adults alike.
