Catrina Hygienic Mask

Sugar skull with blue and orange decorations and a flower on the chin: Catrina fabric hygienic face mask, for ages 6 and up and available in adult size. Against the off-white background are the heart-shaped black nose, the drawn smile and the colourful flourishes of Mexico’s Day of the Dead celebrations.

Some people choose it for fancy-dress parties and end up wearing it on the underground all year round, because the design is cheerful and doesn’t frighten anyone. At school, when she has to wear one because of flu, it’s the mask chosen by the girl who already knows what she likes.

Behind the design, two layers of the same water-repellent fabric to repel droplets, no central seam so the face isn’t divided, and elastic loops for the ears. It lasts for at least 25 cycles when washed in the machine at 60 ºC.

The embroidered name is optional and comes in handy if two friends are wearing the same Catrina.

As a hygienic face mask, it complies with UNE 0065; it is not a medical device or personal protective equipment.
